Greg founded Security Specialists in 1989, prior to that, he was a radio technician with the Broadcasting Corporation of NZ, a computer engineer for the TAB, and holds an advanced radio technician certification. Health and safety is a critical focus for Security Specialists, with Greg having completed a Leadership in Health and Safety course with Site Safe.

While the security industry poses some challenges, the people within it and the team at Security Specialists makes it for him. While Greg has a focus on training new security technicians, Security Specialists also has a lot of long-term staff who have been a part of the business for well over a decade. Greg puts a lot of trust in his team and because of this – they deliver. He’s proud of what they’ve achieved as a team over the years.

During that time, technology has changed and evolved considerably, with Security Specialists always adapting. Security Specialists have worked on large and small projects including all the power stations in the South Island, some of New Zealand’s leading Casinos and notable projects involving extensive hardware such as over 800 access control doors and 200 cameras.

Security is a highly competitive market with a diverse array of customers, which means no two days are the same. One of the secrets to success with Security Specialists is a focus on retaining their existing customer base. As a long-standing security business, Security Specialists have continued to give great customer service and kept up with industry changes.
